More about us

We sailed previously for four years in 1979 on Toti, a 33' wooden boat—designed and built in Sausalito, California by Myron Spaulding—from San Francisco bay to Queensland, Australia without an engine, navigating by the sun and stars. Purists. Our children were born along the way: Ian in Honolulu, Hawaii and twins Sarah and Vanessa in Brisbane, Australia. Now we leave the rugged beauty of our Seattle-area home in the cold, wet, stunningly beautiful Pacific Northwest to find balm and life fulfillment in oceans blue beyond. This second venture starts in 2008 on Zulu, a 45' aluminium Gibbons cutter—designed by Graham Shannon and built in Sidney, on Vancouver Island. We leave from Seattle, bound North to Alaska, then South to the Sea of Cortez, Costa Rica, South Pacific, Australia, and West to South Africa, Brazil, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Hawaii, Japan, and full circle back to Seattle. May fair winds follow us.

Hi,
Great blog. Love the photos of your voyages. Do you have photos of Toti? I'm the webmaster for the Spaulding Wooden Boat Center in Sausalito and I'd like to know more about your Spaulding boat and your adventures with it.
I'd appreciate any links, photos or info you could provide.
Rod, webmaster (at) spauldingcenter.org.
Thanks very much.
