Out from under the avalanche of transition

Friday, June 20, 2008: Friday Harbour, San Juan Islands

First anchorage at Friday Harbour

Mount Baker and the Olympics are cut into the sky, wedged into the entrance of the sweet bay to Friday Harbour, San Juan Islands. It is early morning at our first anchorage. Fatigue still grips me. The avalanche of moving and storing 20 years of living, cleaning, seeing and fixing all the needs on the house—now turned from home to a rental. Silver light and breeze rippled across the lake as emptiness at last showed its face—my last day at home.

I drove away with my loaded-down Tijuana Cherry Bomb red Volvo—to our new home afloat on Yacht Zulu. We did it! Through much counter dynamic—we sailed away!!
