Hi all you faithful readers! This is a recap of the last month's doings of the Yacht Zulu and her crew using the information on ShipTrak. I have not heard directly from Marilyn since they left Seattle in mid-October, later than they had hoped due to Russ' unplanned knee surgery.
They stayed in Port Townsend for a while and intended to leave there on Sunday, 2 November, heading for Neah Bay, but ended up waiting until the next day when there was a window in the storms. They left Neah Bay on the 4th and headed out to sea - south to Oregon. On Wednesday the 5th they reported they were off the Columbia River, between Oregon and Washington and the weather was very grey.
Gale winds came up on the next day (6 Nov.) and they had slow tacking with the blustery head winds. They decided not to chance the bar at Tillamook. The seas continued to be hazardous on Friday the 7th, where they reported they were of Nestucca Bay. They had two staysail sheets snap in the dark of the early morning and decided to wait for daylight to decide on their next plan. A gale warning was going to be in effect for the next two days so they decided to ride it out. On Saturday, 8 November (the last day there was a posting), they reported that they would not be in communication for a week or more due to water in the engine and no power. The seas were still hazardous.
I know you all have Marilyn and Russ in your thoughts as I do. Keep checking ShipTrak - it's been 10 days so, with luck, they should be posting again soon.

I was getting worried myself but I've since heard from Sarah and Vanessa that they're fine and are getting some repairs to the boat done in San Francisco.
